According to the Seocho Police Station in Seoul on June 13th, A, a man in his 30s who impersonated Kim Jae-hyun of N.Flying, was recently caught.
A woman who was a victim of A’s impersonation reported the crime to the police and A was eventually caught. An official at the Seocho Police Station said, “We recently arrested A and prosecuted him on charges of fraud and theft”.
During the investigation, the police found out that not only the woman who reported A but a number of victims also suffered from damage from A’s impersonation. Many people reportedly lost money. Kim Jae-hyun, who was impersonated by A, also participated in the investigation as a witness.
In February, Kim Jae-hyun’s agency FNC Entertainment released a statement, saying “There have been continuous cases of people impersonating our artist, N.Flying member Kim Jae-hyun”.
FNC said, “Through reports from fans, we are aware that someone is impersonating Kim Jae-hyun to approach others and conduct misbehaviors, which is damaging Kim Jae-hyun’s reputation. We ask you to be cautious to prevent any potential harm.”
As concerns over impersonators of not only Kim Jae-hyun but also people in the fandom were raised, the police decided to accelerate the investigation to prevent further damage.
Kim Jae-hyun made his debut as a member of N.Flying in 2015. He has been serving in the military as an alternative soldier since May last year.
